North Salem, NY is a small hamlet located in Westchester County, with a population of just over 5,400. It has long been known as a quiet place to live and raise families, but it also plays an important role in the politics of Westchester County. North Salem is part of the New York 24th Congressional District and is represented by Congresswoman Nita Lowey. The town is also part of the 91st State Assembly District which is currently represented by Kevin Byrne. At the local level, North Salem residents are served by three Town Board members who manage the town's various affairs including overseeing zoning regulations and budgeting for roads and services. Residents can get involved in their local government by attending town meetings or joining elected committees such as the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Appeals.
