Oakhurst, New Jersey is a small suburb located in Monmouth County with a population of approximately 7,500. It is known for its beautiful beaches and quaint downtown area, as well as its rich history and involvement in politics. The political structure of Oakhurst consists of two major parties – Democrat and Republican – and a variety of local offices are held by members from each party. Oakhurst's Mayor is currently a Democrat, while the Town Council is composed of both Democrats and Republicans. Local elections occur every four years to determine who holds office in the town.
