The politics of Ingalls, North Carolina are reflective of the state as a whole. The state is currently represented in the United States Senate by Republican Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, and in the House of Representatives by Republican Madison Cawthorn. At the local level, Ingalls is run by a mayor and five-member city council. For 2021, Mayor Nancy Bias is up for re-election and will face off against two challengers in the upcoming April election. The councilmembers are David Jarnagin, Patricia Redman, Barbara Ballard, Billie Jean Johnson and Margo Groves who all serve four year terms ending in 2023. All five members are members of different parties with no one party having a majority on the council. This is reflective of a larger trend in North Carolina politics which is an increasing shift towards bipartisan government where cooperation between both major parties is necessary to get things done.
