South Euclid, OH is a city in northeastern Ohio in Cuyahoga County. The city has a population of about 22,000 people and is located east of Cleveland. South Euclid is part of the Greater Cleveland area and shares many of the same political affiliations. South Euclid has had members of both major parties representing it in Congress over the years. The current member of Congress for this area is Representative Marcy Kaptur (D), who was first elected to office in 1982. At the state level, South Euclid primarily votes Democrat and is represented by State Senator Vernon Sykes (D) and State Representatives Juanita Brent (D) and Terrence Upchurch (D). At the local level, South Euclid holds nonpartisan elections for mayor, with current Mayor Georgine Welo serving since 2018. The City Council consists of seven elected members from five wards who are also nonpartisan. Residents can become involved in local politics by attending meetings or volunteering for local campaigns.
