Choctaw, OK is a small town located in Oklahoma County. While it may not be the most well-known town in the state, it has its own unique identity and local politics. The Choctaw Town Council is composed of five members who are elected to four-year terms by the citizens of Choctaw. These position are filled by individuals who care about the wellbeing of their constituents and work hard to ensure that the town’s needs are met. As of 2020, the mayor is Dwight Southerland and he has been in office since 2018. In addition to the mayor, there is an appointed city manager who acts as a liaison between government entities and private organizations concerning operations within the city. Through their efforts, they hope to bring development and progress to Choctaw while maintaining its small-town charm.
