Lima, Oklahoma is a small city located in Payne County. It has a population of just under 3,000 and is governed by the Mayor-Council form of government. The current mayor is Dr. Eileen M. Weinaug who was elected in 2016 and will serve until 2021. The city council consists of five members elected to staggered four year terms that represent wards throughout Lima. The council meets regularly to address issues affecting the community such as public safety, infrastructure improvements, and economic development initiatives. There are several local political candidates running for various offices including mayor, city council members, and state representatives. Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
