Conshohocken, Pennsylvania is a small borough located in Montgomery County, roughly 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia. Politically, the area is considered to be fairly conservative and historically has had an independent streak. A number of local politicians have served the Conshohocken area over the years, including Democrats, Republicans and independents. Currently, the Mayor of Conshohocken is Thomas Painter, who was first elected in 2015. The Borough Council members are mostly Republicans but have included individuals from all political parties over the past few decades. The mayor serves as the leader of the borough and is responsible for setting goals and objectives for municipal government operations. He or she also works with other groups such as schools and businesses to improve quality of life for those living in Conshohocken.
