Thornbury Township is a small community located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Located about 18 miles west of Philadelphia, Thornbury Township is home to just over 8,000 residents. The township is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors who are elected by the township's registered voters. Each Supervisor serves on the Board for a maximum of four years and must be re-elected to stay in office. The Board makes decisions and laws that affect all township residents, such as zoning regulations and property taxes. Residents also elect their state representatives and senator in elections held each year on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. In addition to state and local elections, Thornbury Township residents also have the opportunity to vote for U.S. Congress members as well as President every four years on Election Day. Through their votes, townspeople have an opportunity to shape both local and national politics according to their interests and values.
