Santaquin, UT is a small city located in Utah County with a population of around 8,000 people. The city is relatively young and was founded by Latter-day Saint settlers in 1851. Santaquin has a mayor-council form of government, with the mayor being elected for four-year terms while the seven council members are all elected to two-year terms. The City Council is responsible for making decisions about the local budget, ordinances, land use regulations, and other important matters related to the city. Santaquin also has its own police force as well as volunteer fire protection from surrounding areas throughout Utah County. The local political landscape is largely shaped by Republican candidates that have long been supported by the majority Mormon population in Santaquin and throughout Utah County.

Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
