Colonial Beach, VA is a small town located in Westmoreland County on the banks of the Potomac River. The town has a rich history and is known for its charming atmosphere. Politically, Colonial Beach has had an active presence in local politics for many years. Currently, the town is represented in the Virginia General Assembly by Republican delegate Margaret Ransone, who was first elected to serve in 2018. At the local level, the Town Council consists of five members who are elected from each of the four wards plus a mayor who is elected at-large. The council is responsible for setting policy and enacting laws that will improve the quality of life of its residents. Additionally, Colonial Beach offers numerous opportunities for citizens to get involved in their community and participate in civic activities such as voter registration drives and candidate forums. In short, politics play an important role in Colonial Beach’s culture and history, and it provides a great opportunity for residents to get involved in their government and make sure their voices are heard.

Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).

Then we went a little further and added the dimension of magnitude. If the difference of victory was greater than 10 percent, the letter is upper case, and lower case if the difference was less than 10 percent. This allows us to see interesting voting patterns at just a glance.

The area of Colonial Beach Virginia is a very depressed and somewhat unsightly. I would not recmmend this as a place to live, t may be ok for a visit, however I did not  More
