Pearisburg, Virginia is a small town located in Giles County. Despite its small size, Pearisburg has an active political scene. The town is represented by Del. Israel O'Quinn in the Virginia House of Delegates and Sen. Ben Chafin in the Virginia Senate. Both O'Quinn and Chafin are members of the Republican Party and have held their respective positions since 2014 and 2010 respectively. Additionally, Pearisburg has a mayor, Steve Jones, who was appointed to his position in 2017. The town council consists of seven members elected by residents of Pearisburg every two years during November elections. Many important issues such as economy development, education reform and public safety are discussed by these officials as they try to meet the needs of the community.
