Richwood, West Virginia is a small town located in Nicholas County. It is known as the “Gateway to the Monongahela National Forest” and is full of natural beauty. Politically, the town is largely conservative and makes up part of the 11th Congressional District, which has been represented by Republican Congressperson Carol Miller since 2019. Richwood has traditionally voted Republican in recent presidential elections. As for other local political offices, many of them are held by Republicans from Nicholas County, such as Commissioner for the Board of Education Steve Rosenberger and Sheriff William D. Fuchs II. In addition, both state representatives for District 18 are also Republicans.
