Wausau, Wisconsin is a city located in Marathon County and is the county seat. It is home to a vibrant political scene, with several local representatives who make sure their constituents’ voices are heard at both the state and national level. From the Mayor of Wausau, Robert Mielke, to Congresswoman Sean Duffy, the politicians have worked hard to protect the interests of Wausau citizens. The City Council has worked diligently to ensure that the municipal budget is balanced while also making sure essential services are provided for residents. Additionally, there are several grassroots organizations that work locally on behalf of citizens’ rights and needs, such as the League of Women Voters and Common Cause. Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).

Then we went a little further and added the dimension of magnitude. If the difference of victory was greater than 10 percent, the letter is upper case, and lower case if the difference was less than 10 percent. This allows us to see interesting voting patterns at just a glance.

Beautiful area geographically but beneath that beauty are some of the most overly conservative, unfriendly, judgemental people anywhere. Very hard to make friends here  More
