Mercer, Wisconsin is a small town located in Iron County, with a population of around 819 people. The local politics of Mercer are managed by the Iron County Board of Supervisors, who represent the people of Mercer and other nearby towns. The Board consists of five members elected to four-year terms from five districts. They meet regularly at the Iron County Courthouse in Hurley to discuss and make decisions on matters related to the county’s budget, taxation, road maintenance, zoning regulations and more. In addition to the county board representatives, Mercer also has elected city officials who oversee local government affairs including police protection, public works projects and parks & recreation activities. Residents are encouraged to get involved by attending city council meetings or volunteering for various community organizations such as school boards or planning commissions.
