Hall County, Georgia is a vibrant community with a rich history and active politics. It is home to the cities of Gainesville, Flowery Branch, Oakwood and quite a few surrounding rural areas. The county is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners who are responsible for setting the budget, adopting resolutions and ordinances and making important policy decisions. Each Commissioner represents one of five districts across Hall County. Elections for Commissioners are held every four years, with the most recent election taking place in 2020. The Board of Commission also oversees local elections for Mayor and City Council members in each city within Hall County. These elections are held every two years on odd numbered years and candidates need to live within the district they are representing in order to be eligible to run for office. A variety of political parties are represented throughout Hall County ranging from Democrats to Republicans as well as Libertarians and Independents.

R if the Republican Party candidate won, D for the Democrat and I for the Independent. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).
