Marshall County, Kentucky is located in southwestern Kentucky and it is part of the Jackson Purchase Region. It is a small rural county with an estimated population of 31,478 as of 2019. Although Marshall County is considered to be politically conservative, it has had a few progressive initiatives such as expanding access to healthcare services and increasing public education funding. The local government consists of three elected members that make up the fiscal court: Judge Executive Kenny Goza; Magistrate Chair Jimmy Wilkerson; and Magistrate Joe McBride. This county also has its own sheriff's department and police force as well as several city councils throughout the county. The residents of Marshall County are served by state representatives and senators from their district who work to ensure the needs of their constituents are met. In addition, there are numerous local organizations working together to improve the quality of life for all Marshall County residents.
