Menominee County, located in the state of Michigan, is a rural community with a population of approximately 24,400 people. The county has been an active participant in politics since its founding in 1855 and has seen many changes over the years. The county seat is Menominee and it is also home to numerous small towns and villages such as Carney, Powers, Peshtigo, Cedar River, Hermansville and Ingallston. At the local level, Menominee County is represented by a board of commissioners that consists of nine elected members from seven districts. In addition to this local representation, Menominee County is part of the larger Michigan legislative body and participates in elections for state representatives.
