The Elmira, NY Metro Area is governed by a variety of leaders and political representatives. At the national level, the area is represented by Congresswoman Elise Stefanik in the 21st District of New York State. On the state level, the area is represented in the Senate by Tom O'Mara and George Amedore and in the Assembly by Phil Palmesano. Locally, Elmira is led by Mayor Dan Mandell and city council members John Trice, Nicholas Monroe, Daphne Jordan, Joe Duffy, Greg Wahl, Amanda Webster, and Terri Rennia. The City Council meets twice a month to discuss local legislation on issues such as public safety, infrastructure improvements, parks services and economic development initiatives. In addition to these elected officials there are numerous other organizations within Elmira's government that serve citizens' needs with representation from across all districts of the city.
