Wilbur, Oregon is a small town of about 400 people. Located in the Willamette Valley, Wilbur is known for its agricultural roots and rich history. In terms of politics, Wilbur is part of Oregon's fifth congressional district, represented by Democratic Congresswoman Kurt Schrader. Locally, Wilbur has two city councils—the City Council and the Wilbur-Luckiamute Rural Fire Protection District Board—which are each responsible for making decisions on behalf of the citizens of Wilbur. The Mayor and City Council members are all elected by the citizens of Wilbur to serve four year terms. They are responsible for budgeting and making policy decisions, as well as addressing grievances from local citizens. Additionally, the Mayor appoints a number of special committees to address various issues that arise in the community. Currently there are no political candidates running for office in Wilbur, however residents are encouraged to get involved by attending local meetings or joining one of the many committees available to them.
