What BestPlaces Users Say about Peoria

Peoria, Arizona is a city located in Maricopa County, with a population of approximately 168,000 people. It is known for its warm climate, outdoor recreation options, and highly rated schools. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this city, let's take a look at what some users have to say based on their personal experiences.

1. "I have been living in Peoria for over 20 years and I absolutely love it. The community is very welcoming and there are plenty of activities to do for everyone. The schools here are top-notch and the crime rate is low. The only downside is that the summers can get pretty hot, but besides that, it's the perfect place to raise a family." - Sarah G.

2. "I recently moved to Peoria from California and it was the best decision I ever made. The cost of living is much more affordable here and the quality of life is just as good. I also love the fact that there are so many parks and hiking trails nearby. It's a great city for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors." - Mark T.

3. "I've lived in Peoria for a few years now and I have to say, I'm not a fan. The traffic can be unbearable during rush hour and there isn't much to do here. The city is also lacking in diversity, which can make it feel a bit closed-minded at times. Overall, I would not recommend living here." - Jessica R.

4. "Peoria is a great place to live if you're looking for a suburban lifestyle. The neighborhoods are safe and quiet, and the people are friendly. I also appreciate the efforts the city puts into maintaining its parks and public spaces. It truly is a clean and beautiful place to live." - Ryan M.

From these user reviews, it is clear that Peoria has a lot to offer in terms of safety, community, and outdoor activities. However, it may not be the best fit for everyone, as some have mentioned concerns about diversity and traffic. Ultimately, it seems like a great place to raise a family and enjoy a quieter, suburban lifestyle.

Religion subgroups - 11/29/2014
The sub-group of "other christian" seems to be larger than many other main groups, at least in my town.
Why not break it down a little more and I would suggest a sub-group of, "Messianic". For those who are unfamiliar; this is a group of Christians and Jews who have come together to celebrate their messiah in the older and newer testaments of scripture.
It is a fast growing distinct group and would be the next logical addition to the Read More

TOO HOT!!!!!!! - 8/6/2013
Many people like our hot summers, but, I don't. We hit 100 and above starting in mid May on average and it continues into Oct. Way too long for my liking. Downtown PHX. is absolutely dead on the weekends unless there's a sporting event. People leave the downtown as soon as the event is over. I can't wait to Read More

quality of life - 1/14/2011
The air quality is now one of the worst in the nation. My family moved to
the Phoenix area in 1961. The quality of the air was good then for my brothers
respiratory problems. The population has grown from 100,000 in 1961 to almost
5.7 million. The hot season is now from May to November instead of June to
August. The cost of living is still acceptable, but the streets and freeways
are very crowded during peaks. The demographics has also changed, as maricopa
county, where Phoenix is located is now only 25% Caucasian. The hispanic
population is now 65%. This impacts land value and Read More

Great most of the year - 10/25/2009
Peoria, AZ (suburb of Phx) a great place to live 8 months out of the year due to it's mild, dry climate. I always feel like I am on vacation! It is sunny and bright with low humidity and beautiful surroundings. There are many outdoor activities you can do including biking, hiking, tennis, and of course golfing. The best thing about the location is that if I want to get out of the heat in the summer, I can drive a couple hours north to Sedona or Flagstaff or 5 hours west to any location in Southern California. Airfare is also inexpensive (usually around $100 roundtrip) to Southern California and Las Vegas if you want to get away for a weekend.

Although I think the desert is beautiful, I do miss the greenery you get in a location that has more annual rainfall. I just don't miss the rain. When it does rain in Phoenix, it is a real treat and welcomed. Beautiful lightning storms that fill up the Read More

Go away !! - 9/23/2009
I am moving out, this is an ultra religous conservative place. Too many old people living yet in the 30's. I prefer to comute an hour, before driving an hour in the city fighting old fanatic religius people. Recently the city try to prosicute a neightbor because they made pictures of their kids in the bath and were reported by some of the old ultras working at walmart printing service. The city lost, of course no state court would loss a minute on that. In fact, the city, and the walmart got sued back for difamation. If you are an inconditional Bush-Religous-Redneck inconditional, this place is for Read More

STAY AWAY! - 7/28/2007
I moved here almost 2 years ago from the midwest, it appeared to be paradise. NOT AT ALL! Horrible drivers, HORRIBLE PEOPLE, AND CRIME IS UNREAL!!! Theres 2 rapists still on the loose here now! Like the police have something better to do. I got robbed a month ago while I was sleeping! They took the wheels off my car, all of my husbands tools, our minibikes, speakers,ETC!! And all the cops said to me was "its common". And I havent heard from them since!! I even gave them a plate number of a car that was seen at my house DURING the robbery! THEY DID NOTHING, said they couldnt because they didnt catch them in the act. WHAT?! Your better off being a scumbag here, than a hard working citizen. We are a young couple that moved here thinking we could start our newly wedded life here...now we have to move back home and life with HIS PARENTS to get back on our feet....AZ INS DOESNT COVER THE GARAGE...CHECK YOUR POLICY! Have you ever heard of that?! So we get no Read More
