Housing Epidemic
- 6/2/2018
Prineville is a great place to live, if you can find a home to live in. There is a housing shortage, at less than 1% and holding for more than 3 years. Otherwise, we have one of the lowest violent crime rates, people are friendly and lovely parks. The small city of Prineville is growing at a rapid rate and nobody's keeping up with the needs of the citizens. I love this town, but watching the decline, caring for the citizens is really sad and hard to

Prineville, OR... A great place to call home
- 7/19/2015
We moved to Prineville from La Pine Oregon. Prineville is a smaller town of about 9k but has a huge amount of things that often go unnoticed. The beauty that surrounds this town is incredible. From the majestic mountains of the cascades to the west like, The three Sisters, Broken Top, Batchelor, Black Butte, Mt Washington, 3 Finger Jack and more..... We have several water areas that are a sportsman's dream, Ochoco reservoir, Crooked River, Prineville Resevoir, and just a short drive are more lakes and rivers... We are at the opening of the Ochoco Mountains... and we have multiple golf courses here and many a short drive away.... Bowling alley, pool, parks everywhere, fairgrounds that are always bringing in great events including rodeos and horse races... Not just a couple weekend through the summer, but all year... New businesses are building in several spots, a new hospital, a new school, Apple, Facebook and more are moving here or already have... This is a conservative town that the

Not hateful, just honest.

I have lived in Prineville for my entire life (+25 years). There is absolutely nothing to do here for the 18 - 30 age group. Over the years I've seen all kinds of things done in a real Prineville way:
Skatepark: built with metal ramps (too slippery to skate on once the paint wears off), asphalt rather than concrete (so the asphalt has bubbled and cracked, and been repaired with tar, which made it impossible to skate on). Works decent for bmx though, but I don't ride that.
Pool: has been sliding down the hill it's built on. It's unsafe, unsanitary, and it apparently it also constantly leaks. They filled the kiddie pool with sand, rather than fix the problems it was having. And the boy's bathroom has no stalls between the toilets. "Hey there! Watcha doin?" "What's it look like?"
Bowling alley: I used to love that place! I guess the owner had a gambling habit, and it disappeared, and a new bowling alley went up above the rim. Which is too far

A Great Place to Live
- 11/24/2007
My husband and I have lived in this wonderful small town for 11+ years now and love it! It's a place where many people still wave at you when you're driving, even though they don't know you. It's definitely grown since we moved here, but is still the warm small town we moved

Quite small town
- 11/7/2006
My wife & I stayed in our travel trailer and visited with some friends in the summer of 05'. We loved camping in the Cascade's to the west, gambling at the indian cassino to the north and the Prineville Reservior to the southeast of town. Did some shopping in Bend and Redmond while there. Also visited Smith Rock just a hop west of town. Fuel was resonnable, groceries a tad high. There are no major supper markets there. I needed a diesel fuel filter while there and they poked me the eyes with the high price. Twice the price of Auto Zone. There is a major automobile tire manufacture there also, Schuobe or something like that. All in all we enjoyed it while we there and would not mind living there, being our son lives in Albany,
