What BestPlaces Users Say about Bedford

Context:

Bedford, Texas is a small suburban city located just outside of Dallas-Fort Worth. It has a population of around 48,000 people and is known for its friendly community, affordable cost of living, and top-rated schools. Many people have chosen to call Bedford home, and there are numerous user reviews online that provide insight into what it's like to live there.

Summarized reviews:

1) From "Sarah K.": "I've lived in Bedford for over 10 years and I love it. The neighborhoods are safe and well-maintained, and there are plenty of parks and recreational activities. Plus, the schools are fantastic and there are lots of family-friendly events throughout the year."

2) From "John D.": "I moved to Bedford for work and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The cost of living is much lower than other cities in the area, and the commute to Dallas or Fort Worth is not bad at all. The downtown area has a great small-town feel with local shops and restaurants, and the people are so welcoming."

3) From "Emily R.": "I grew up in Bedford and it has always been a close-knit community. I love that I can still go to the same local businesses and see familiar faces. The only downside is that there isn't much to do for young adults, so I ended up moving to Dallas for more nightlife options."

4) From "Mark T.": "I've lived in several different cities in Texas and Bedford is by far my favorite. The cost of living is low, the weather is great, and the people are so friendly. I've never felt unsafe here and I love being able to drive to Dallas, Fort Worth, or even Austin for a weekend getaway."

I'll Never Know What all The Fuss Was About... - 5/25/2010
I am originally from Maryland, but spent over 25 years in El Paso,Texas. I had the misfortune of having to live in Houston for about 4 years back in the later 70's, and promised myself that I would never live there again! Between the humidity and the incredible crowds, it was just plain unbearable! In January of 2005, I had the misfortune of having to re locate to Bedford, Texas. There just seems to be something about East Texas.... It ISN'T TEXAS!! West Texas is Texas! I can honestly say from personal experience that Texas ends just west of Fort Worth! By the time you get to Bedford, you may as well be in New York City!! Between the illiterate "Bubba Drugstore Cowboys" and their useless pickup truck littering up the freeways, and the other incredibly rude drivers on the interstates and local highways, it's a miracle I made it out alive! The cost of living there I thought was rather high owing to the excessive taxes! The sales tax of 10.25% after the county and city add their regional Read More

Great place to raise a family! - 5/2/2008
I've lived in Bedford for over twenty years. It's the perfect suburb to the DFW metroplex - almost in the middle, low crime, and friendly residents. Neighbors still wave hello, and it has excellent schools as Read More

Bedford Living - 8/15/2007
I've lived in this area, same house, for over 20 years. Of course, its grown more than I would like but it still remains a great place to live. Part of the "Mid-Cities" of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the most attractive thing is the accessibility to both major cities and all the activities surrounding the metroplex. We are very close to DFW Airport as Read More
