I lived in San Jose for 30 years...in the late '50s. I walked thru cherry orchards to school. After college classes, I drove 20 minutes to the beach. San Francisco was 45 minutes away. I moved to Scottsdale for my career. I thought it would be a nice little town to raise a family. It is clean and safe. But it is boring. I thought my children would be safe. But eventually, they too got bored and as teenagers began to get into trouble. Why? Because there is nothing to do in Scottsdale. You have to drive 3 hours to find a forest.
