I'm a native Houstonian and I have to agree with you completely. Social skills on some people are lackluster around here and the job market is awful. If you know Spanish and don't mind the under market pay, Houston isn't that bad... But you don't know a lick of spanish, and have bills to pay, Houston sucks.
