Review of Newport Ore,

Moving from London, UK next Summer 2018
Star Rating - 7/26/2017
I came across this website, as my wife and I will be moving from London, UK to Oregon in order for my wife to be closer to her parents.

Needless to say it can be daunting beyond belief, upping and leaving a city like London for a quieter life. We have considered Eugene, but we also love the idea of Newport being on the coast. 10 years living in the chaos that is London City is enough to make anybody want to get away from it all.

I am interested to learn a little about job prospects in Newport. Ultimately we need to be within 2 hours of Florence, which is where my wife's parents reside.

My wife works in childcare, and I work in phone and email based customer service but both of us are bright individuals, not afraid to take on new challenges.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Newport unfortunately has too meth addicts. You will actually see them sitting on lawn chairs by the street curbs. Mailboxes need to be locked because they steal the mail. There are allot of people volunteering their time to help the homeless. There are many very ugly buildings and the city proper is exceedingly ugly. There has been allot of mismanagement of funds which often happens in small towns where educated persons are resented rather than welcomed to assist. A few excellent restaurants. Rt 20’s new extension makes the drive to the valley much better but it still remains an exhausting hour drive. Driving in the warmer seasons is a battle of the RV’s on the road. Healthcare is where you might find employment and also housekeeping for the ever expanding AirBNB vacation rentals.

Welcome to the USA. We plan to move to Newport in Summer of 2020. We live in so. California and want to be out of the rat race here. It’s badly over populated here. I am a retired Nurse and I am waiting for hubby to be done teaching.

Wow from London to Newport? Well I’m reading this 6 months after you posted and curious if made the move yet? I too am planning a move to the coast, probably Newport because I just fell in love with this townhouse from Meritage at Little Creek townhouses and one just listed as being for sale. I’m coming from Kansas City and planning to move sometime in the next few months. My goal is to be near the ocean as inspiration for writing and having lived in San Diego 7 years, Hawaii for 3, Oregon has the most affordable oceanfront options on the west coast. Hope to make the best of it! ??

There are plenty of jobs for child care in Newport. Even with Siletz tribe. You won't regret living in Newport is truly a paradise. You beach comb and find agates and crystals petrified wood so many sea shells. Fresh fresh air. Fresh crab you can catch yourself. The docs you pull up and by fresh tuna cod halibut etc. No traffic low stress. 'Casino near by. Florence is only an hours away down Pacific Coast Highway some of the most scenic picturesque. The sunsets are breath taking. No airplanes flying over only helicopters. no pollution. Also the beaches are so clean its like no body in Oregon dares to throw garbage on the beach because I never see garbage. the only garbage is when the winds blow it all over the place. The jobs are plentiful and the economy is good here. no smog but sometimes fog. not bad. sometimes snow. You can ride a horse on the beach by Florence. If you need a transition place I run an extended stay motel. Newport Bay Motel. looks us up.
