Its the old addage Location, Location, Location ...................Yes the beach front is very expensive but coming back to reality, just west of I75 is very comparable to the North East or any major hub, West of I75 great value but lacking the 3 L. Insurance and Tax's are being handled, I do not have to tell you the weather is great all year and after 11 yrs in Florida, I left 3 times for hurricanes, Wilma's eye was approx. 5 miles south of my home town of Marco Island which is a great place to live.
