AK Grigoryan, I agree with you 100%. I'm born and was raised in the valley (brownsville for more than 20 years), and what you just typed is very accurate. Not precise. Accurate. Ignore Andy J. It seems he only wants to acknowledge the "90%" of brownsville (or really only ~5%). The areas he is referring to are the wealthier parts of the town, which make up a small portion of it. Though, It seems everyone who speaks positively about b-ville hasn't spent a day in poverty, or been in any type of ghettos scattered throughout the town itself. I highly recommend that if you value your time and money I would head north. Staying here isn't worth it.

Dear Andy: If you have come from Cleveland, Dayton and Nashville, I can understand why Brownsville would seem like a step up for you. You mention Alton Gloor, Rueben Torres Blvd and the expressway as trash free, but I am thinking you should go see Dr Sudarsian on Los Ebanos to get your eyes checked (maybe you have cataracts)......or perhaps you have never travelled down any of these streets South of the expressway, eg- Alton Gloor and Paredes Line? The area you mention is the most northeast part of Brownsville and makes up about 10% of the area of the city. It is my contention, based on your response, that YOU haven't seen the other 90% of the city you live in. I spent all day everyday for 6 years driving around ALL of Brownsville checking out those aspects because it was my job. I suggest you take a drive down Alton Gloor and turn right on Paredes the take a left on Berta or Carlos and go check out that neighborhood with the feral dogs ( there are more "neighhoods" like this one in Brownsville than there are "nice" neighborhoods, this one is probably the closest to the area you mention you are in and easy for you to visit to see what I mean). If you are feeling really adventurous, get on the expressway and take it to East St exit (the last one before the border) and have some fun exploring your city! If you like excitement, try taking a walk down 14th st at night. Oh, Andy, FYI: I will come there talking trash anytime I like ( at least I only talk it, not throw it out the window while I am driving down the expressway), but don't worry it won't be anytime soon because it stinks there!

You really didn't take your time to see the other things. I am from Ohio and moved to Brownsville in 2010 and have loved it here more than any other cities I've lived in. (Cleveland, Dayton, Nashville) anyway i do not know where you lived in Brownsville but there are very nice neighborhoods, my neighborhood happened to be very nice and the people and neighbors are really friendly and respectful. There is no feral dogs or people blasting music. On the streets I have yet to see any dirty roads (Alton Gloor, Ruben Torres BLVD, The Expressway) Brownsville has good restaurants and growing retail areas. So next time think about other aspects of things and do not come here talking trash.
