For those here who have commented about the weather: Please, yes, it's western Washington, and that is the weather here. It is not about Gig Harbor. That is the weather in all of western Washington. If you can't hack it, fine. Move on.
I am currently living in Colorado with 300+ days of sunshine, and I can't complain about the weather here. That said, I long for my home state of Washington, where the landscape is green, vibrant green, and now brown nearly year-round like Colorado. To each his own. I don't fault Coloradans for their love of their state, but I think Washington can't be beat for beauty. I miss all kinds of things that people from other states might not love: the fishy low-tide smell, fresh (I mean fresh) seafood, and most of all that deep green of everything (even the median between the highways).
On Gig Harbor, I grew up there, and I still find it quaint even though it has changed so much since I was a kid. Every time I go back, I must sit at the Tides Tavern and have a beer on their deck, looking out over the harbor. Bliss!
