| 9/29/2008 | parent | Due to the gross inaccuracies, I suspect the entry below is either a prank or coming from a parent whose child did not get accepted into St. Rita. As a St. Rita parent for many years, I know first hand what a treasure our school is and what an excellent job the teachers do in preparing the kids for high school and beyond. The vast majority of St. Rita graduates earn high honors and are in the National Honor Society in high school. St. Rita's buildings and grounds are beautiful, the curriculum is challenging but fair, and the teachers are top notch. My children are very happy and safe at St. Rita, and the quality of education is well worth the tuition. Keep up the great work, St. Rita. |
| 9/20/2008 | parent | Very dirty school (one bathroom for entire student body), overworked teachers, no set curriculum to show for ( I challenge you to ask for one on a visit.. They will not be able to produce one but the diocesan guideline written vaguely). Teacher has full discretion, so if you happen to get a 'know it all', a 'I want to be friends with the student so i don't offend the parent', or 'ancient teaching methods' kinds of teacher.. Then you are stuck. They have all those described .. Take your pick..Forget about the arts (art class only 1/2 a semester, music education includes only singing for masses- no theory, music appreciation or education). Big classses... Gives an excessive amount of homework because of class size.. Spend your money elsewhere.. |
| 11/14/2007 | parent | If you are looking for a safe environment for your kids, this is the place to be. Overall the staff is good. However, too many of the teachers here need to get with the times. Less homework would make for a better family life. Students need to do more learning during the school day through activities (not just worksheets), and less should be left for the parent to try to teach at home. I believe that students should be graded on how they are meeting the standards for that subject, not so much weight on homework, which is often 'busy work' for my kids. If you have a child going into 4th or 5th grade, you're in luck. Mrs. Marben and Miss Clendening use a variety of teaching styles. They help children suceed and feel good about learning. Your child is sure to benefit from them! |
| 10/19/2007 | parent | I love the new principal, Pat Flanagan. St. Rita's best days lie ahead. We are blessed. |
| 10/17/2007 | parent | Both my children attended PK-8th grade and received and excellent foundation that has allowed them to do very well in high school (honors and AP classes) and one is now in U of I. Plus they both liked going to school everyday. |
