Review for liberals and conservatives - 5/26/2021
We just moved to Fairhope from California and absolutely love it! For the most part, it’s like minded common sense conservatives close to the bay and lots of shopping. Alabama is not really a place for liberals, which is why we chose it and hope it stays that way. It’s very refreshing to have people with common sense running the government and not being told what to think or do around every corner. It costs more to live here than other parts of the state but we think it’s worth it. Here’s the review for any liberals out there thinking about trying to move and ruin this state like you have the other ones you’ve infested. Lots of bugs alligators and rains all the time. general all aroung quality of life - 8/21/2012
Beautiful mix of the standard retail within 15 mina, but in our downtown is ecclectic meets "old townMarch of each year Fairhope hosts a mammoth Arts and Artist event that typically draws over 225,000. the town shuts down to become this event. The event at one point not long ago ranked in top 10 that was a must see. On the Bay of the Gulf of mexico maks sundown anything you want. spend it in the water. Giggin for flounder. Friends & like meet up for oysters done anyway you can imagine and boy do i imagine..LOTS!I'm a floridian transplant. Wished I had raise my son here. People look up when they walk by and expect to nod and hello. Schools are state of the art and our crime truly is low. i can kick back or kick it up...that may just be the alabama Roll Tide in me!

An amazing place to live! - 8/10/2010
Fairhope, AL is a beautiful flower-filled village on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. We have all the water activities, like fishing, swimming, sailing, and power-boating associated with a coastal environment plus a community that values art, history, and a rich regional culture.
Our cost of living is very low. Housing is affordable and property taxes are very low. To live in Fairhope is to perpetually on vacation, without the high cost.

I've been traveling to Fairhope for years. It is a wonderful little town, right on Mobile Bay, 125 feet high up on a bluff so it's protected from bad storms. Very nice and the people are friendly and the cost to live there is less than the national average. Sure, it gets hot in the summer so just stay in the AC for those hot afternoons, otherwise you will be outside at one of their parks or walking under those huge trees in the quiet neighborhoods. And, it is an artsy town with plenty of seniors that are active and do a lot of crafts. Some well known autors call it home -- for a good reason. Check it

I live about five to ten minutes away from Fairhope and attended School in Fairhope. I basically grew up in Fairhope and never had a problem with crime and i'm thirty three years old. Fairhope - 9/11/2009
I must say that Fairhope has very little history. The community is only 120 years old. There is much history in the surrounding area, however Fairhope started off with a small group of people who thought their ideas and ways of life were better than the rest of the world's and unfortunately the residents still feel that way. My experience is that they only welcome wealthy outsiders and are guilty of an elitest attitude. Nice people hmmm... nice to whom?
Fairhope's downtown does have a quaint little feel with its flower lined streets. But really it has an almost Austin TX vibe when it comes to the arts. Nothing totally spectacular, however street fairs are fun to attend.
And if you have money the shops are nice.
It's a wonderful retirement community with golf courses and great health care providers close by. Fairhope's proximity to the gulf and it's warm temps make it a cozy place for wealthy snow birds. I just wish they would confine themselves to their little spot

The Good , The Bad and The Ugly of Fairhope - 6/22/2008
First the Good: Very slow pace. People are extremely nice and friendly, think Stepford Wives nice in a good way. Tons of things for young children to do including swimming, baseball, football, cheerleading, soccer, golf, tennis, yachting. Very family oriented. Family Madri Gras parades, July 4th, tons of family events. Very Safe. Downtown area is lovely, Pier at the Bay is great. Schools and teachers are Fabulous. If you have small children move here immediately. Great place to raise a troubled teen because there is nothing to do in Fairhope except hang with your parents.
The Bad: If you are young and single you will be bored out of your mind. Houses are overly expensive for the area, but are slowly coming down in price, about 1/3 % over priced. Shopping is awful, Walmart only. Unless you like overpriced boutiques. Restuarants are Mom and Pop grease joints. Night life: zero
