Fairhope

I must say that Fairhope has very little history. The community is only 120 years old. There is much history in the surrounding area, however Fairhope started off with a small group of people who thought their ideas and ways of life were better than the rest of the world's and unfortunately the residents still feel that way. My experience is that they only welcome wealthy outsiders and are guilty of an elitest attitude. Nice people hmmm... nice to whom?
Fairhope's downtown does have a quaint little feel with its flower lined streets. But really it has an almost Austin TX vibe when it comes to the arts. Nothing totally spectacular, however street fairs are fun to attend.
And if you have money the shops are nice.
It's a wonderful retirement community with golf courses and great health care providers close by. Fairhope's proximity to the gulf and it's warm temps make it a cozy place for wealthy snow birds. I just wish they would confine themselves to their little spot and quit poluting southern values.
