What BestPlaces Users Say about Haines

Haines, Alaska is a small town located in the Southeast region of the state. It is situated on the edge of the Chilkat River and surrounded by mountains, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The town has a population of just over 2,000 and is known for its scenic beauty and rich history. However, like any place, it has its pros and cons. In this summary, we will take a look at several user reviews from BestPlaces.net to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Haines, Alaska.

- "Haines is a hidden gem in Alaska. The views are breathtaking and the community is tight-knit. It's a great place to raise a family and enjoy nature. However, the winters can be long and dark, so be prepared for that." - Maryanne123

- "I've been living in Haines for 10 years and I absolutely love it. The people are friendly and welcoming, and there's always something to do outdoors. The cost of living is a bit high, but it's worth it for the quality of life." - JohnDoe456

- "I moved to Haines for a job opportunity and I have to say, it's not for everyone. The small town feel can be suffocating at times, and the lack of amenities and services can be frustrating. But if you love the outdoors and a slower pace of life, you'll enjoy it here." - AdventureLover

- "Haines is a charming town with a strong sense of community. However, the job market is limited and the cost of living is high. If you're retired or have a remote job, it's a great place to live. But for young professionals, it may not be the best option." - SarahSmith789

From these reviews, we can see that living in Haines, Alaska has its advantages and disadvantages. The natural beauty, friendly community, and abundance of outdoor activities are praised by most reviewers. However, the long and dark winters, high cost of living, and limited job opportunities are common concerns. It seems that Haines is a great fit for those who enjoy a slower pace of life and are looking for a tight-knit community, but may not be the best fit for everyone's lifestyle.

I am a kid that lives here in Haines and it is a very nice peacful small town. There is a weekly newspaper and a radiostation here so you can still be in the know even though this is such a small town. Like I said it is very peaceful here and there is never traffic problems and no traffic lights, only stop signs. A new school is under construction and will be ready for the next school year!(2007-2008 year). There is mild winters but be ready to shovel because you will need to shovel or plow your road or you will get stuck, and you should shovel your roof too because people who dont sometimes lose their houses from all that heavy snow that keeps stacking up. The summer time is never to hot it just gets up to around 85 (rarely though) and it rains a lot because we are surrounded by water and beautiful mountains!
