Not All That - 9/30/2005
Dont get me wrong, im happy to get away from LA, but you dont know what you had until you lose it. Phoenix is going to have major problems in 5-10 years. Air quality has gotton significantly worse since i started coming here 2 yrs ago and living here 3 months ago. Traffic is almost as bad as LA or Houston. High Crime rate, lots of drugs, auto theft highest in the nation, shootings every night, bad pollution! on the other hand, PHX has great sunsets and tempe is a fun college town, but Im out of here ASAP! NOT a good place to Read More

Air quality, crowds, car theft, dangerous roads - 9/20/2005
Phoenix weather is beautiful in the winter---however we have a significant ozone and pollution problem here that gets worse with each passing year. The traffic is just horrible, and more and more hiouses are being built farther and farther out all the time. We have the highest auto theft rate in the nation, and are among the worst for traffic fatalities for miles driven. Don't fool yourself. This place was heaven 25 years ago (so I hear), excellent 15 years ago, decent 10 years ago, and is pretty high stress and unhealthy today. I am planning to bail as soon as I can find a decent job in a smaller, cleaner, safer Read More

The best city in the country - 9/13/2005
After spending six years in the military and traveling around the country I have found that Phoenix is truly the best city. I think the best way for me to portray this is to give short explanations as to why Phoenix is so much better than other cities. Great weather 90% of the time, beautiful scenery, no hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, or significant flooding, beautiful sunsets/sunrises, gorgeous girls everywhere, great hiking and biking trails, very safe city regardless of what Sperling's says, good schools, lots of history, low humidity, mosquitoes almost obsolete, no snow or sleet, yet snow capped mountains within an hours drive, affordable housing, great people, abundance of night life, well thought out and maintained roads, no potholes or lights hanging on wires, vast array of golf courses, starry nights, beautiful landscaping and architecture, plenty of sunshine, great views, tons of great weekend getaways in the state, 3 lakes less than 30 minutes away, and not too much Read More

Phoenix Rocks - 9/6/2005
I dont get why it matters if the kids do drugs or hang out at the malls. Kids will be kids they do that stuff everywhere and a lot of adults dont raise there kids right. How would u feel if you had to go 2 school with a lot of mean mexican kids that treat you like garbage, I feel for them and thank god i wasn't raised here. Thats not what makes phoenix what it is. This is a great town all the metro's are great I think peoples heads are just fried because the summer heat. There are a lot of jobs, great colleges and everything you could possibly need in phx and rocky point is just a few hours away and its a beautiful Read More

Phoenix: Not too fast, not too slow - 7/21/2005
Phoenix provides the right balance of the large metropolitan experience along with the right "pace", which isn't like New York in the commute or "ratrace" sense. I love its sunny days and its generally beautiful weather. Of course, I am pro-biased to the desert, and this is one of the best places for my allergies since humidity, as in the midwest, intensifies them. The crime rate is quite high in almost every category; however, I find the post-secondary education system to be superb for certain fields such as business. I love Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs, and even though I'm only 23, I don't believe that I will ever leave here!! Phoenix, I love Read More

JerseyGirl calls it home! - 6/23/2005
Born and raised in NJ, just moved back to NH (why I ask!) from Anthem, AZ, and we can't wait to get back to our home in Arizona. I loved it out there. I hate it here in NH. AZ has snow when you want it (Flagstaff) and lots of sunny days and things to do. Felt like we were always on vacation. Boring here in NH, too slow and snow stinks. You either like your winter cold (East coast), or hot (Southwest). I can almost hear the coyotes at night, blue skies, and starry nights. Sedona is beautiful. Lots of fun places to eat with the kids, things for hubby and I to do, an only place I could see a concert (Prince) cheap, and get my kids to major league baseball and hockey games without paying a fortune. Driving is so easy, things are so NEW and planned out well. The "charm" of New England might fare better when I retire! Who am I kidding....I will NEVER be back. Arizona is my Read More
