Best February weather in the US, but summers ARE p - 6/8/2008
February seems to be the very center of beautiful weather in Phoenix. It is usually sunny, and shirt-sleeve comfortable during the day and pleasantly cool in the evenings. Skys are still mostly clear although the city does have increasing problems with pollution advisories both from the auto exhaust as well as the natural desert dust. Still, there's really no place else I'd rather be in February. July, of course, is an entirely different

A city in serious decline; Phoenix was built with - 5/27/2008
Well, I have a few things to say about Phoenix, its metro area and the people that live there. I really don't mind the weather, except in July and August the heat really brings out the worst side of its inhabitants.
The interesting feature of Phoenix is that it's a city built solely on growth. Which means all of the people moving here are needed for the city to progress forward. Why? More houses being built, houses being sold, utility lines put into place, etc. So what happens when housing is no longer affordable, and the city stops growing? Well, you don't need as many real estate agents for one, and all the services needed to maintain a house such as pool guy, lawn care, etc. Also you no longer have people moving here to work white-collar corporate jobs either. And unfortunately the kids coming out of the glorified high school known as ASU are not the kind of people you'd trust running your business/corporation. Sidenote: ASU is only growing in order to enroll more

We wish you would move back home. - 5/9/2008
All these people from east of the Mississippi thought they wanted something different and when they got it they complained it wasn't like where they're from. If you can't take the heat that's fine, if you had grown up in the Sonoran desert, a winter in the Northeast would seem like hell on earth. Culture is a funny word that gets thrown around a lot with cities, if you wanted an older urban american city you could go just about anywhere in the East and find that. We have generations of english and spanish speaking culture and history here in the most unique biological region in America. We have our own culture here established and in ways it is still evolving. It's not static, it's one of the largest cities in the nation and it's still growing and defining itself and it's something worth witnessing. Before you leave, see the desert covered in wild flowers when it's seventy degrees every day for months. Arizona has every biome except for rainforest and tundra. There's forests and all

climate in Phoenix - 4/20/2008
If you can handle the 110+ degree days, which occur for about a month in Phoenix, and otherwise enjoy hotter rather than colder weather, Phoenix may be the place for you. Winter evenings are cooler than in the Los Angeles area, as a side note (about 10 degrees

Avoid Phoenix like the Plague - 4/18/2008
I got suckered into living here by the jobs. sure there is work here, but if you are blue collar like me it just a bad idea. So many illegals push the wages down for everyone. Education here is horrible, im not racist at all.. but the tremendous amount of hispanic {easily 60%} many of which do not speak english and it slows the entire classroom down. The teachers have to say everything twice {once in english once in spanish} so obviously they can only teach half as much per session. My wife was born and raised here, ive been here about 4 years. Now that we have a child we want nothing more than to get away from the crime. Phoenix is always in the top five highest crime rates... auto theft, identity theft.. anything theft related. violent crimes are way up, pop density is horrid. the air quality is terrible..smog smog smog. Once a desert oasis this place is just dying now. If you want to raise a family for gods sakes dont move here. The education i cannot stress enough is terrible.

Phoenician says Phoenix Sucks!! - 4/16/2008
I was born here in Phoenix, AZ and I agree that this city is like a minie hell waiting to bake you brains out. One of the reasons why road rage is so bad here is because we are all dehydrated and sweaty. Yes, people are rude and have their egos inflated the size of a watermelon (People wonder why I am not so social LOL). Don't leave your car outside of the garage chances are it will get stolen. Yes, there are many illegal immigrants out here and that is why you see Bi-lingual preferred on every employment add. There is not much to do here in Phoenix but eat out,see movies, hand out at bars and go hiking. Most of all you get to spend your little pay check from your low paying job on bills. Then you get to go home and become insane while you bounce off the walls because its too hot outside.
There are plenty of opportunities to gain weight and become obese. The charter schools here suck and the streets are filled with bums and crack heads, whores and pimps. Don't go to the Avenues or

Phoenix: Pluses and Minuses - 4/11/2008
I lived in the Valley of the Sun for 18 years and heres the word.
The Good: Phoenix is within 4 hours drive of L.A. and Vegas. I recall popping over to L.A. on the weekends to watch the Lakers/Suns playoff games. Also, it's about 5.5 hours to Rocky Point Mexico which, at one time, was a nice little laid back Mexican fishing village on the Gulf of Baja(I'm sorry to say that now it's getting very commercialized and plastic). Also,if you're an outdoors lover the mountains to the north and east make a wonderful getaway from the dessert heat. Weekend camping trips to the red rock country around Sedona are among my favorite memories. Arizona Snowbowl in Flaggstaff is really one of the hidden jewels for skiing, snowboarding and downhill mountain biking and it's just a short 2.5 hours north of Phoenix. The Valley also has some great spots to climb and mountain bike. South Mountain park is about 20 minutes from downtown and can be ridden year round. The trails have
