Simplify your real estate transactions - 7/19/2006
Today’s real estate consumer has a lot to consider during the sale or purchase of a home. Be it waiting for the right buyer/seller, mortgage rates, or the moving truck, the experience can take a bit of patience on the part of the consumer. With this in mind, it is incumbent upon real estate brokers/agents/firms to institute services that will the buying/selling process hassle-free.
“Realizing this trend is not going away, the CENTURY 21 System has worked to improve the experience of buying or selling a home through the CENTURY 21 Preferred Alliance Program. The program offers consumers and brokers access to strategic alliances with various links to home-related value added products and services. Making the process easier and much more convenient,” said Casey Ross, Century 21 Centre Point.
Among the products and services offered through these alliances are ADT Home Security Systems, CENTURY 21 Home Protection Plans and Budget Truck Rentals, just to name a few. The

Quality of Life - Not as good as it was and declin - 7/11/2006
I've now live in Phoenix and Scottsdale for almost 27 years (more than half my life) and we're ready to go. After growing up in New York City and moving here in the late '70's it was a definite change of pace and just what I was looking for. Air was clear, population levels low, clean, new, modern and wide open with low cost of living, plentiful job opps and courteous people.
By the mid '90's all was begining to change and not for the better. Phoenix was now being "discovered" and soon became the next new "hot" town. Everyone living in a natural disaster prone area, those without jobs, or people just fed up with bad weather and crime soon began to migrate here.
Problem is, along with good people come bad. All the ills and issues most were seeking to escape soon followed them here. Today, Phoenix is no better than the places most were hoping to escape and in fact has become worse. According to recent studies, the heat island effect and global warming have

reality check - 7/6/2006
Hot - better than cold. Bad roads? Have you been to Michigan? No culture? Phoenix is a great blend of cowboy meets California. Real estate costs to high? Sure they are high, but look at the population - It had to happen sometime. Crime? Try staying out of the GHETTO! Overall cost of living? Pretty average. Commute? Live near your work. (If you work in Avondale, do not live in Mesa) As for the city not being New York or Chicago stylr? Well I have not been to NY, but Chicago is an armpit, as is Detroit and Cleveland. As far as education goes, public education sucks everywhere and it is not going to get better. Try a charter school or move to Sottsdale. Did I miss anything?

Not that hot. - 6/26/2006
I just moved to Phoenix from Baltimore and even though it's 112 it isn't as bad as I thought. The heat is very dry and you need to be outside for at least 15 minutes before you break a sweat. The humidity of the east and south is much more

Ready to Seek "Smaller" & "Greener" Pastures - 6/22/2006
Moved to Phoenix about 3.5 years ago. Here's the lowdown on the "good, bad, and the ugly" of living here. As a bit of a profile on who is sharing this point of view, it's coming from a semi-retired (self employed) couple in our mid- and late- 50's. We're homeowners and have some income property here as well.
Anyway, first the good. This is a really well run city. Real people actually answer the phone and return calls when you call a public agency. We were astounded when we went to the Motor Vehicle Dept. to get our licenses and register our vehicles. It took about a half hour compared to the day one has to dedicate to the same process in California. It's not that it's that much smaller, it's that they've invested in a much better system for running the department.
Trash service -- in addition to the normal pick up of trash and recycleables, four times a year they come by and pick up bulk items. So what that means is that unlike CA where if someone

Phoenix growing pains...going from a small town at - 6/22/2006
Cost of living is rising. Income trails behind. Right to work state. Makes it a little difficult to maintain stability. Highways and freeways are a disaster. Too little too late. Many people moving in many moving out. Crime, illegals are a constant. It seems like charter schools outnumber public schools anymore. They are shopping centers

At first glance, Phoenix may seem intriguing, but - 6/22/2006
Phoenix is full of a bunch of fake people, who parade around like they are all millionaires when they're really making $40,000/year. The morals and values of the people here are terrible. The roads and freeways are nice compared to just about anywhere else I've been, but you pay for it because the 202, a major freeway, is closed just about every weekend, so you can't even drive on it. But at least it looks pretty. Also, so much taxpayer money goes towards keeping up the roads that there is hardly any left for the public schools. As a result, they have the second worst public school system in the country behind Arkansas. I challenge anyone to compare the school funding to any other state and you'll find it always on the lacking end. ASU is a great school, however. But 40% of the student body is from out of state, so most of the great and students they have are from elsewhere. I am from out of state and attended ASU and am attending medical school next year, so I believe ASU
