"I moved to Scottsdale for work and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy living here. The downtown area has a great mix of restaurants and shops, and there's always something happening. The only thing I don't love is the traffic during peak season."
4. User name: Jessica
"Scottsdale is a beautiful city, but it can feel a bit superficial at times. There is a lot of focus on appearances and material possessions. However, once you find your niche and make some genuine connections, it's a great place to live and work."

Scottsdale is overrated - 10/17/2007
Scottsdale is not that great! It's getting very exspensive and people here act like they live in LA, and it's nothing like it. There is nothing to do here, but go shopping in one of our many chain stores. If you like the outdoors you can do stuff in the winter. In the summer it is way to hot to even go out of your house. The people here are very rude and act like they are millionaires, but most people I have met live on credit. Traffic is getting worse and worse everyday. If you want diversity and culture Scottsdale is not for you.
There are some good things about Scottsdale. The weather is very nice 6 months out of the year. Taxes are low, but that's going to change soon because property tax is ketching up with housing boom. Third there is alot of

Life in Scottsdale Arizona - 10/7/2007
I love living here. You can't beat the weather...well except for the summer time when it is over 110 for over 40 days!! Then it is only between 100 and 110!! KILLER! Once you make it through the summer......LIFE IS WONDERFUL!!!! Lots to do here. Great schools, great shopping. Only one problem....you need to be a millionaire to live here! VERY

If you don't have to interact with anyone, don't mind what influences your kids are exposed to, not a bad place to live. Drive to a local jr high school and see how the kids dress and act. Ask your daughters what a "rainbow" is. Truly out-of-control in every way. Highest divorce rate in the US=Maricopa county: over

Arrogant people with no reason to be so - 7/23/2007
People in Scottsdale seem to think they are sitting in the richest, most elite community on planet earth. Yet many of them are simple white trash, like the "lady" that cut me off on an Easter Sunday and then proceeded to flip me off from inside her black Mercedes while wearing formal wear.
Besides that, it's miserable weather from May to

Beautiful... but not perfect. My critique: - 7/7/2007
I am semi retired, living in Scottsdale for the last 7 years. Like many who moved here, I wanted to escape the harsh winters of the Northest. Scottsdale is a dichotomy - South Scottsdale, the older part, where I would be considered wealthy. I live in North Scottsdale, where I am a middle class citizen, at best.
The good: Everything's new! Mostly friendly midwestern people. Growing high and low tech jobs... help wanted signs everwhere. Lots of restaurants. Tons of shopping. Convenient, abundant medical, including the Mayo. Low crime (North Scottsdale). Pristine environment. Beautiful neighborhoods (no bad ones). Lots of masterplanned communites. Nice looking schools. My sense says this would be a good place to raise a family. Highest open space per person of any city over 200,000. 8 months of great weather. Mecca for golfers, bikers and hikers. It averages 5-6 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Phoenix airport 30 minutes away (non rush hours). Much cooler

I grew up here - not what it used to be...... - 7/5/2007
Sadly I have to say the city has changed since the 70's... Having grown up here and went through all years of school including college and grad school, I really know the area. I now have a family of my own and live in the same town as my extended family.
This city has changed so much since the 70's I just dont believe this place is good to raise a family anymore. I dont want to leave my extended family, but the kids are being influenced all the wrong ways. Money is SOOO important. There are so many divorces here and people trying to put on a show. If you live in a nice neighborhood, you cannot drive a mini van without getting stares. Also when I drop off my kids at school, I need to dress up (high heels, maybe a tight shirt, etc). Those that dress down or drive "not the best of show" cars are in a different category. Its out of control. I can say this place is beautiful. The summers are bad but if you have a pool and are willing to pay $300/mo to keep your home cool June, July,
