NO PLACE LIKE HOME! - 9/10/2022
I moved to American Canyon from Vallejo and resided there for 7 years. We recently moved only 1 exit up and slightly regret leaving when we did. It's only been 18 months and now we are looking for a home back in AC. Kids love the schools and within a 5 square mile city have an amazing police medical and fire dept. presence. Weather is amazing and growing at a rapid pace. New things are coming and can't wait to see how much more we can do in that community! Read More

American Canyon A Big Step Up! - 1/3/2013
I am a long time resident, (approx. 25 years), & I initially moved out here when this was considered "out in the Boonies".
Having grown up mostly in Vallejo, and having attended Vallejo schools, but when my eldest was ready to start high school, I also moved here in part due to less expensive rental properties, & later, better home prices. I also moved here, also in part because I didn't want my kids to go through what I did, at Vallejo's public junior & senior high schools.
(Not that I regret my having been raised in Vallejo, you have to become street savvy at a young age, it grew up in a great melting pot of people, with the many ethnicities that reside there.
I have to say, I have never even unhappy about that decision. The public school's here are on par with parochial schools in most places, with zero tolerance for violence, & programs that educate & encourage students to respect individual's differences, such as race, sexual preference's, etc. The town Read More

Wonderful weather! - 7/28/2007
Its warm enough hear for my tomatoes to grow. Crime is practically non-existent. The commute is 45 minutes into S.F. without traffic. I am an hour away from the beach. Fifteen minutes away from wine tasting in Napa and its wonderful restaurants. The city will probably grow by 35% within the next 10 years, so traffic will definitely get Read More

Not staying for sure. - 11/11/2006
OK is all I have to say about this place. We landed here out of necessity when things didn't work out for us in Napa. It is 10 miles down the highway....Nothing here really. A grocery store, a small plaza for some realtors, and a couple of restaurants...this is an area with things built off of the main highway, and some house subdivisions. I don't know why anyone would live here permanently. We will be going as soon as we can figure out just where to move to. We thought California would be so great. We are finding that the schools are bad, there are no jobs in the wine industry unless you are from another country. We will have to search for a better spot. Read More
