Fresno Is A Great City - 2/8/2006
Fresno is a great and often overlooked city. We have great weather we do not drop below freezing often nor have humid heat and are centrally located where you can easily get to most attractions in California. However we do not have earthquakes or other natural calamities and the cost of living is low for California cites. You can buy a nice sized house and is a great place to raise a family. The Fresno Unified schools though do not test well because of language and poverty issues, actually do a pretty good job and have a safe and tolerant climate. We have plenty of higher education oppurtunities as well. Crime in Fresno by some is over rated. You are relatively safe in most neighborhoods of this city. Violent crime is actually relatively low for a larger city. We have the ammenities of a fair sized city and in the actual core of the city itself you have a pretty tolerant environment. Those who say our downtown is dead have not been their in a while. I enjoy Downtown Fresno as well as Read More

Run while you can - 11/21/2005
Fresno on the surface, to the outsider looks like a smart financial move. If you want to stay in California, and can't afford the Bay, LA, or Sac..Fresno is it. But...beware. This place is a Good 'ole Boy town. Racism is rampant, Gang violence is exaggerated by local news to justify over zealous police force. Air is Bad, Jobs few and business owners act as if YOU are LUCKY to have a job at all. Wages are at early 1980s rates, and most people are working in a field different than they are trained in. Ag is KING, and you better love the Republican Party or you will find your car with damage after your low paying work day. Oh, the courts are right out of the American "South" of the 1950s! RUN while you can! -on the way out soon, to Sac, Portland, or Washington State.

Fresno - Unjustly maligned by those who don't live - 9/27/2005
California's best kept secret - but not for long. Housing and commercial growth has quadrupled within the last two years. Fresno offers easy living at it's best. A major city with a population of nearly 1/2 million - without the commute! Should definitely be placed on a "best place to do business" list. High success without the stress!

While many major corporations are looking to leave California because of the high cost of doing business - those wise enough to research Fresno come here to stay.

One of the few California cities where you can still own a home; raise a family and walk the dog after dark! You can also be home from the office; sitting by the pool, or even up at the lake in less time than an average L.A. or bay area commute.

Boring? Nothing to do? If sitting on a freeway for hours a day just to get to and from work is your idea of excitement - stay away! If jetting around an ever-expanding city within 12 to 15 minutes to Read More

Fresno really does suck - 8/24/2005
Fresno is suffering from terrible suburban sprawl. We used to be a nice farming community, but now they can't rip the fig and peach orchards out fast enough to build new and sterile housing. There is major white flight to the north and downtown is deader than a doornail. There is a Starbucks and a strip mall every 10 feet. Fresno has a symphony but not much else culturewise. It's hotter than blazes during the summer. The housing market has gone skyhigh pricewise because of equity rich people moving in from San Francisco and Los Angeles. There is not much on the job market because Fresno is still surrounded by farming communities. Agriculture is practically it, although the medical/healthcare community is big here. As far as I'm concerned the only charming neighborhoods in Fresno are Old Fig and the Tower. I've been here 30 years and Fresno really does suck. Idaho's looking Read More
