Maria Regina Catholic School Review - 11/9/2012
As an alumni of Maria Regina, I am extremely proud that I had the wonderful opportunity to send my children here. The quality of the Christian-Catholic education they received/are receiving is excellent! The principal is amazing in that she is dedicated to making sure each and every student who graduates from MRS is college-bound! The faculty and staff are dedicated to the task of helping to raise our children to be the future leaders of America! I am grateful to the foundation this school has helped my children establish for their futures, as they are ALL Top Honor students! MRS provides a safe, nurturing environment with a level of discipline that helps our children grow into strong, respectful young adults. I highly recommend MRS to any and all families who are considering a Catholic-Christian school, that is safe and affordable and fun! Thank you, MRS, for continuing to be a top-notch school! Read More

8 Reasons to Avoid Gardena - 5/16/2011
1. Crime. Gardena is a relatively low income city and attracts a lot neighboring losers. You have to watch your surroundings at all times. One woman was severely beaten and robbed while she was walking from the local Target to her car. Criminals have been known to hide out in the city and the police are pretty inept about catching any true criminals. However, they're experts at fishing - setting traps to ticket people (speeding, parking, jaywalking, etc.). They spend more time fishing then fighting crime and in a busy school zone, they're more focused on giving tickets then directing traffic. To prove this point, 2 LAPD officers won a 2 million lawsuit because they claimed that because they were ordered to fulfill their ticket quota, they couldn't focus on fighting real crime. Also, you can get a ticket on your own property if you don't follow code to the T.

2. Schools. If you have kids, forget about it. Find a private school or move out. With the exception of Read More

Would love some suggestions about living in or aro - 1/24/2011
My husband has a job opportunity in Gardena. We're considering leaving Seattle for the first time in our lives and moving to LA. We love our home and neighborhood, but see this as an opportunity to stretch ourselves and have an adventure. Wondering if anyone has some suggestions about neighborhoods that are family friendly, affordable, close to Gardena, with good middle/high schools. I'd like my husbands commute to be less than 30 minutes. Appreciate your Read More

Can't Afford It Anymore - 5/4/2008
Gardena is a very diverse community about 10 minutes outside of LA. It is wonderful with the exception of the average small shack running $500,000.00 & up with literally no lawn or a small back yard. If your neighbor's phone ring you answer it by mistake. On the up side there is always something exciting to do just minutes away! The weather is great, but not for the cost of living.I am looking to relocate to North Carolina, outside of Durham(What are the zip codes for the good sections of Durham?)I have a 4 year old; a good school system is important to me and a diverse ethnic community with low crime.
