Not quite there yet - 1/26/2009
Another comment from an Orangevale resident complains about the diminishing of rural character and the coming of compact development. Unfortunately, I cannot endorse such a simplification. Major transportation corridors bisect Orangevale, and unless development is compact enough to provide enough riders for transit, far worse than current development practices are inevitable. In fact, if we do not have compact development, the local Blueprint project predicts the Sacramento region will be *much* less rural. Compact development is the only friend rural living has really.

As for transit: The Folsom light rail stop is a short drive, or bus ride away. Unfortunately, Folsom and Sacramento Regional Transit do not coordinate their bus routes, so it's actually more convenient to drive to a park-n-ride than to take transit.

Think Twice - 7/7/2008
Think twice before purchasing property in one of the more expensive places to live. Orangevale is losing its small town flavor while be buffeted or "tucked into" other more favorable places like Granite Bay and Rocklin, or Fair Oaks. There is not much to be offerred here except very nice parks and a great community center. If you blink, you will miss it while being enmassed by other more profitable places. It is almost pretty, but move to Folsom just up the road to get the best bang for your buck! Everything is clean there and lots prettier.
