Hot as Hell and Fake phony people! - 9/2/2020
I lived in Palm Springs for 12 years and initially it appeared to be quite beautiful. The mountains are beautiful and palm trees, very stress-free and manageable. However after awhile one gets very bored, also the summers are unbearable with relentless triple digit heat throughout the summer. It can get up to 120, but they say it’s a “dry heat” but so is an oven! It’s very cliquish as well and you need money to fit in. A lot of fake Hollywood wanna-be types. Between the heat and the ugly people, I had to leave! Best to just visit during their winter season but not to live! Read More

Paradise Lost - 8/6/2020
14 years is plenty long enough. This is a nice place to visit, not live.
In the last 20 years the air quality, especially in the summer has
deteriorated considerably. And, add to that, more heat records
are being experienced. There were 2 days in 2020, a couple of
weeks apart where the temp reached 121 degrees. If you think
that’s not a big deal, just ask your outdoor plants how they like
it. Just try to walk the dog when the average summertime
temp is close to 110. Mornings are not cool anymore.
Your home suffers inside and out. This kind of heat is murderous
to everything outside. On the inside, after just 10 years, anything
white plastic turns yellow. And then there’s your skin with 10%
humidity...
Sure the Mountain View’s are amazing, but best left to the lizards.
And, if you’re really adventurous try to be there during those 180
days a year when the temp averages 90 and above, while you

Ghetto crime city with lots of glitz but no police - 4/15/2020
Ghetto Crime City with lots of glitz...

Police do nothing. Called 911 three times in a year: twice, no response. Provided the license plate of the criminals in two cases. Police didn't dispatch a car, pick them up, zilch... they were six feet away. City government is a real incompetent, unconcerned inept group of "wanna be's" who cant even keep citizens safe. Move to Rancho Mirage or Palm Desert. Much safer, more civic pride, functional government.  Read More

I guess it depends on what you're looking for... - 7/7/2015
I've lived in Palm Springs (PS) for 13 years & vacationed here from Seattle, WA 1-3 times per yr for about 8 yrs before that. PS has changed a lot in the past 21 yrs, esp. the past 10. I moved here to escape the intense overcast & damp climate of Seattle that kept me depressed much of the time. I wanted to live in a place with an abundance of sunshine, a lower cost of living, a village feel vs. city, suburban or rural, and where I already knew a few people. I loved PS when I vacationed here and it met all my criteria at the time I was ready to relocate (2002). My 1st few yrs in PS were all I hoped they'd be, but gradually I've become increasingly disenchanted with living here. Yes, the summers are unbearably hot, and contrary to what some folks may say, it is NOT mostly just dry heat. It seems it's gotten a lot more humid here each summer with massive watering of golf courses & lawns, increasing numbers of swimming pools, fountains & such, + a shift in the monsoonal air that comes up Read More
