What BestPlaces Users Say about San Jose

San Jose is the third largest city in California and is considered to be the heart of Silicon Valley. Known for its booming tech industry and diverse population, many people choose to call this city home. However, living in San Jose can also come with a high cost of living and intense traffic. In order to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this city, I have included a summary of user reviews from bestplaces.net.

User Reviews:

1. From Alice_L: "I've lived in San Jose for over 10 years and I absolutely love it. The weather is unbeatable and there are endless activities and events to keep you entertained. However, housing prices are through the roof and traffic can be a nightmare during rush hour."

2. From JohnDoe45: "I moved to San Jose for work and have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the job opportunities are great and the city is very diverse. But on the other hand, I struggle with the high cost of living and the lack of affordable housing options."

3. From SarahSmith85: "San Jose is a great place to raise a family. There are top-rated schools and plenty of parks and recreational activities. The only downside is the cost of living, which can be tough for families on a budget."

4. From SiliconValleyGal: "As someone who works in the tech industry, living in San Jose is a dream come true. The job opportunities are endless and the city is constantly evolving. However, the cost of living can be a big barrier for many people, and the traffic can be unbearable at times."

Based on the user reviews, it is clear that San Jose has many positive aspects, such as great weather and job opportunities. However, the high cost of living and traffic are common concerns among residents. Despite these challenges, many people still choose to call San Jose home and enjoy the diverse and vibrant community it offers.

I am curious, I have read the previous comments and SJ sounds like they have everything in tack. How is the cost of living compared to San Diego, LA, and Santa Monica. Is San Jose pretty much along the same. Is there job growth in your city? Is the housing market strong there? How is the single scene and what is the approximate rental cost? Is the nightlife relative good there? I am a native from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and I am so ready for change. Local Government Accountability, Fiscal Responsibi - 8/28/2005
The City has honored its informal agreement with residents and spends a 1/4 cent sales tax on a specific list of traffic improvements. Construction projects have been completed ahead of schedule and below projected cost. - Primarily because of NOT using the California Transportation (Cal-Trans) department, but using independent contractors instead.Read More

Recycling Program - Environmental Responsibility - 8/28/2005
San Jose developed the first and best recycling programs in the nation. It reduces landfill by 60-75% and sales of recyclable materials pay for most of the cost.

Pricing is primarily based on the volume of NON-recyclables (i.e. trash & garbage). The City will collect an unlimited amount of recyclables and yard trimmings.

ONE container is provided for ALL recyclable materials - no sorting required, it's automated.

A second container for yard trimmings is collected and composted separately. Larger items such as tree trimmings are picked up at the curb.Read More
