Family Oriented Beach Community - 6/3/2008
Beach towns are notoriously crowded in the summer, but if you can overlook the crowds you will find a small town feeling comforting in Seal Beach. The beach community of Seal Beach is family oriented with a quaintness about it that allows you to unwind and forget about the fast paced, materialistic, narcisistic world outside of Seal Beach. If you have to live in a SoCal beach community, this would be the pick of the bunch.Read More

Great place to live. - 6/17/2007
Seal Beach has the best weather of any place I've lived, and I've lived in two coutries, 5 states, and 14 cities or towns. Seal Beach has vitually no air pullution, light rain averaging 13" annually. In summer the average high is in the high 70's. In winter the average low is about 50 (it's considered unbearably could when it get down to 40).

Also, in old town Seal Beach (near the beach), crime is so low that you can walk around at midnight and feel perfectly safe.

Seal Beach has a small town feel, with a real Main Street that people walk-to to eat in restaurants, or shop. Also, there a great library in the middle of twon that's within walking distance.

The only disadvantage is high cost of property.

My grandparents lived in that home throughout my childhood; I remember the big party they threw in 1983, when I was 10 years old, after they made their final house payment! That home was finally paid for; I remember my grandmother telling me that their mortgage payment was $66 a month! Considering the fact I knew my parents were paying about $550 a month at that time for the dump we lived in outside of San Bernardino, I was amazed! At that time, my uncle and his girlfriend were renting a small apartment in Seal Beach for $650 a month, and that was a "bargain", even for 1983! My grandparents sold that same house when I was 16; this was 1989, and they got (GET THIS!) over Read More
