Let me get it striaght with everyone... - 1/27/2010
Edgewater is no east st. louis, harlem, south central, detroit, or flint, etc. But the neighborhood does have its issues/problems, etc. First of all, edgewater is not the mayberry of colorad or whatever the other reviewer had said. i'd have to disagree with that statement. and you may be able to get by leaving your door unlocked for a few nights, but sooner or later it will come back to haunt you. and do not leave your car door unlocked man. i agree with "joey velca?" or whatever about the crime in edgewater. i have heard of edgewood also which is in edgewater but does not get counted on the stats for this neighborhood. With respect tot he gang activity..... theres not a gang "problem", but there are active gangs. its not such a huge problem, but it is within in the schools. i sent my kid to jefferson high school from 2002-2006, and he would tell me frequent stories about gangs in the school, which are located in the neighborhood. such as, GKI, WSB, RTS, OKW, etc. now these gangs are Read More

a neighborhood on the decline.... - 1/26/2010
please dont listen to any people that do not know what they're talking about. Yes, this neighborhood is no compton california lol. however, its has its negatives. The schools are low performing, and have many behavior issues. With latinos (mexican americans) getting more and more populated in the neighborhood, you can expect great mexican food. bubba chinos off 20th and lamar is great and la cascada off 20th and depew is bomb too. im 17 living in edgewater and i KNOW what its like. people that dont interact with the kids that go to school here or walk around the neighborhood (all parts!) dont really have a fair playing field to way in on this hood. the schools are 80% latino (and im latino, im not a racist), and they have sets. graffitti is an everyday thing. im willing to bet that most ALL residents of edgewate rhave had to clean off one of their fences at one point or another. and i can remember about 8 gang relate murders since ive lived her. its just part of an urban city man. i Read More

Mayberry of Colorado - 1/24/2010
Edgewater is a very small suburb west of Denver. I think its only a square mile. Its an oasis, a clean and safe little town, It's like Mayberry here, it has a little tiny Mayberry library and it's own little Mayberry police station where the policeman sits in a rocking chair out front! It's one the places where you don't have to lock your front door. It's full of beautiful little homes with beautiful yards. the town sits on the edge of Sloans Lake (where I imagine its name comes from) I love living here, it's a clean and quiet. I moved here from California, I've lived here for the last 10 years and I have had zero problems. I wouldn't live anywhere else. I think it is the perfect place to raise your children. Big city crime is almost non existent, the people are super friendly, and my family feels very safe Read More

Edgewater was one of THE up and coming neighborhoods in the denver metro area for a long time. throughout the 1970's, 80's and early to mid 90's, Edgewater was a pretty nice little area smack dab in the urban city. However, the neighborhood has changed a great deal from the late 90's to present day. Edgewater sits right on the border of Denver county and the nice white suburbia suburbs. I have lived in the west colfax neighborhood in denver for my earlier years and i lived in the edgewater neighborhood from 2006-2009. I have now moved to the villa park neighborhood. Edgewater has a crime rate of 67 incidents per 1,000 people, a lot higher than it was in the 90's and a lot higher than national averages. while living there, i can remember hearing frequent gun shots and sirens so often that it became an ordinary thing. yes, edgewater has some good things about it, but nevertheless it has its problems like an neighborhood in an urban city. property crime is an every single night thing. Read More
