Don't believe the lies from the town! - 8/4/2015
I have lived here for 12 years. My spouse and I have been trying to make enough money to get out of here! If you want to live in a place that's more than 25% higher to live than national average, jobs for 1/3 of the year, and those go to illegals, and the worst traffic you've ever seen, fine, your choice!
It's constantly windy, and the crime is awful. The police protect the criminals and illegals (don't want bad press for tourist town), and the town government is corrupt. Voting is rigged, businesses are sad t-shirt shops mostly, everything is ridiculously high, and it's by far the noisiest place I've ever lived (I've lived next to I-70!). The unemployment is way higher than stated. No one over 21 can find a job, because the illegals get them all. Property theft, property damage, slumlords, NO apartments for working people, just luxury condos and homes. Nepotism runs rampant, and the kids of the owners are the laziest most stuck-up privileged brats I've ever dealt with. Many Read More

Drake Colorado Had to pick Estes Park as city - 11/2/2010
There isn't a school in Drake, Colorado. They children are either bused to Estes Park or Loveland, Colorado. Drake is a small area, but the area Post Office 80515 incompasses a mountain community and also homes along Hwy 34. The only business in Drake is a Summer Restaurant with a few rooms, camping areas and a small convience store. Plus a Post Office.  Read More

Young Family Life in Estes? - 7/22/2008
What is the culture like for a younger family(late 20's with 2 kids under 3) in Estes Park? Our main concern is that Estes is known as a retirement community and that there may not be enough younger couples to connect with. Can anyone provide insight into this? How are the schools? Community activities or growth opportunities for kids, YMCA?

Outdoor Heaven - 11/15/2007
Estes Park is ideally located next to Rocky Mountain National Park, with its miles of trails and tons of backpacking sites. Elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, and all the smaller critters you would expect to find are in abundance here. The towns of Boulder and Longmont are a 30 minute drive and Denver International Airport is about a 2 hour drive. Because it is a tourist town, traffic can be heavy in the summer months, but you will also find lots of shops, restaurants (many are only so-so), and other facilities. Estes attracts lots of retirees, many from the Midwest. Town politics tend to be conservative, but that is changing somewhat. No ski resorts, no high-end frills, but a nice place to live Read More

High cost of living in EP - 8/28/2006
This is a resort town-that means the majority of jobs are seasonal - from May til August or September. Salaries are really low while rent is high. Businesses pay lower wages to the large number of foreign students/workers who flock here for the summer then they pay to locals. Great restraurants that are expensive with no discount for local workers. Example: DeLeo's deli= small sandwich +scoop potato salad and fountain drink=$11.00!! I know this is true because I've lived here for the past 5 months and don't know how much longer I can "afford" to live here. I love the climate and the mountains but oh the cost...of everything!!!Read More

Starbucks in Estes Park, CO - 10/6/2005
There IS a Starbucks in Estes Park, CO. -- a company owned store on Elkhorn Ave -- the main drag. There's also a second Starbucks that is a licensed operation at the Safeway store. And the Stanley Hotel serves Starbucks coffee at its cafe.

We have Starbucks! I work there.
