What BestPlaces Users Say about Evergreen

Evergreen, Colorado is a small town located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just 30 miles west of Denver. It is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. However, living in Evergreen is not without its challenges, as the town can experience harsh winters and limited job opportunities. Despite this, many people choose to call Evergreen home for its peaceful and close-knit community. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about their experiences living in Evergreen.

- "I've lived in Evergreen for over 20 years and I absolutely love it here. The small town feel is unbeatable and the access to nature is amazing. The only downside is that the cost of living is quite high, but for me, the benefits outweigh the costs." - Linda S.

- "Evergreen is a beautiful place to live, but it definitely takes a certain type of person to enjoy it. If you love the outdoors and don't mind a slower pace of life, then you'll fit right in. But if you're looking for a bustling city, this is not the place for you." - Mark G.

- "I moved to Evergreen three years ago and I have no regrets. The community here is so welcoming and friendly, it's like one big family. The only thing I would change is the lack of job opportunities, but I've been able to make it work." - Sarah T.

- "Evergreen is a hidden gem in Colorado. The views are breathtaking and the people are fantastic. However, the winters can be tough and there's not much to do in terms of entertainment. But for me, being surrounded by nature makes up for it all." - David R.

Don’t live here - 9/30/2020
I lived and worked here for 10 years. The people are arrogant, affluent, snobby, selfish, self-centered atheists who don’t want to make new friends. Our neighborhood was unfriendly. It snows from September to May and it’s ten degrees colder than Denver all the time. It has natural beauty, nice walking trails. There are only two great restaurants. If you want to go anywhere to shop, attend church, or eat out, you have to travel at least 30 minutes. It is impossible to find reasonably priced housing anywhere. We moved because it’s too cold, too unfriendly and we were tired of driving at least 30 minutes to start doing any reasonable outside activity like biking, kayaking, skiing. A lot of Californians are moving in and driving the prices of everything sky high. Read More

Not Safe During a Pandemic - 5/13/2020
Evergreen is not the place to go if you're worried about catching COVID-19. Sadly, the large majority of people that are outside and in Evergreen stores right now are not wearing masks and are not social distancing. It's so bad that I don't even leave my house any more. I get everything delivered and I am moving to a town where people are less ignorant/more considerate of those of us that are scared. The trails are packed, too, so don't come here for recreation. The worst part is that a lot of the store owners are refusing to wear masks, even though it is currently the law in Colorado.

I think the blatant disregard for the pandemic laws stems from many factors: (1) Evergreen does not have a city government to enact and enforce any laws, (2) most people here are healthy and do not think they will catch the virus (back to the ignorance point), (3) the education level is not as high as larger towns and cities.

There are definitely far more nice people Read More

Beautiful Town - 6/24/2019
Beautiful town, low crime, easy (well depending on traffic) access to the mountains. Close enough to the city to commute to but far enough away to have a small town feel. Great place to raise a family and the schools have been wonderful for our kids. 3 brewpubs. There are some cons such as the premium you pay to live in the area, weekend visitors from down the hill can make it very difficult to get into shops or restaurants, could use some more restaurant choices, and zero diversity. Read More

Safe! (notes on house pets) - 4/4/2010
Having spent 25 years in Erie, PA, I feel Evergreen is a very safe and friendly place. You feel that you can go anywhere at anytime and you are ok, and should anything happen, your neighbors will help you.

Only real safety issue is wildlife - as some mt lions have been known to kill people's (large!)dogs - but almost exclusively only at night. Coyotes will snap up your cats too. I live in an area where eagles and hawks eye my cats even during the day, so cats are now exclusively indoors. Depends where you are in the mts. I lived one town over where my cats were safe outdoors (they all lived) for 4 years, although they always came before Read More

We are being transfered and must sell our kingdom - 2/4/2009
It took 3 long years to realize our dream and that was to move to gorgeous Evergreen, Colorado we moved from back east and have been on vacation for the past 12 years (it feels like a vacation living up here) The community is wonderful, it's paradise on earth, people are involved very supportive and loyal to small businesses like mine. I love driving downtown Evergreen I pass the lake where during the Summer people are boating, fishing, walking and relaxing and in the Winter one sees the ice skaters, the fishermen, the wildlife all seasons. My husband commutes just 40 minutes to Littleton down the hill for work and goes against any traffic. We live up in the mountains and we have a gorgeous mountain contemporay house that is for sale

Moving from Dallas - 7/14/2007
Can anyone give me any information about the Evergreen area? We are a family of 4 (5 and 7 year old boys) and are looking for a good place to raise our kids. We live in Dallas currently and are fed up with the smog, traffic, and people. The public schools here are hit and miss and spend more time trying to pass state mandated tests than working on education. We know housing prices are higher in Evergreen but are more concerned about the "feel" of the community. Is the population generally friendly? Is starting a business there difficult if you are an outsider? How many people in the Evergreen area are acutally from Colorado?

Any and all help is greatly Read More
