Meriden is a city located in central Connecticut, with a population of around 59,000 people. It has a diverse community and offers a mix of suburban and urban living. It also boasts a relatively low cost of living compared to other cities in the state. However, Meriden has its own set of challenges, including high crime rates and limited job opportunities. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Meriden, let's take a look at some user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

On the other hand, Jane, who has been a resident for only a year, expresses her concerns about the high crime rates in Meriden. Pricey ghetto - 11/17/2012
I have lived here for over 3 years and the crime has gotten significantly worse. I live on the outskirts but when I watch the news, I am appalled at the amount of crime in this small city. Does not make any sense. Add to that the fact that one will naturally have trepidation about going out in this city after dark makes this a particularly crappy place to live. There is a Westfield Mall but it is one of those types of malls you want to get in and out of as quickly as possible b/c never sure when a ruckus might break out! If looking to relocate, skip this place. Also in checking on environmental disasters, there are brownfields and polluters and one of them is within a mile of my house...great! Read More

Meriden has become a joke! - 9/1/2010
Meriden was such a great town many years ago. It's now a garbage town full of losers, drug dealing, welfrare rats, people that won't speak english, thugs, whores and ghetto acting people. I can't wait to get out of here! The downtown area is so depressing and sad! The town now has a dirty feel to it. The central part of Meriden makes me sick.Meriden feels like a small version of a crappy part of the Bronx,NY!!!! Now more bums than ever are walking the streets of Meriden. They make me sick.I've come so close to knocking a few of them out. This town is full of smelly ass bums. Meriden is also a HUGE welfare and section 8 town.I'm just telling it like it is. Alot of pretty neighborhoods but not for long because the losers are slowly moving in there Read More
