I am happy here as an elegant upper classy person - 8/27/2023
Very affordable but it has its own elegant history (Brass City) Almost all residents keep updating their values timely, the largest community, higher cultural activities, elegant shopping centers, amazing buildings, and very historical private houses, are close to all cities, close to all shopping areas, available public transport, greenery, lakes, forests, and amazing city center.  Read More

Low Cost of Living Oasis in High Cost of Living Ne - 5/19/2014
Waterbury has very nice homes for very reasonable prices, even compared nationally. Lots of money has been invested in the city over the past 5 years, with even more committed for the next decade. New restaurants, bars, and small manufacturing are producing a noticeable improvement in the city. Progress is slow but very Read More

Run away, its not worth it. - 5/31/2013
I've lived in waterbury for 6 years, this is a horrible place to live and raise a family. I did some substitute teaching and the children are absolutely out of control, the teachers are on their wits end and there was an arrest at them every single day. The city is horrible, you can't get gas without having someone begging for money, downtown is dirty and crime is rampant. I've had package deliveries stolen from my house in broad day light, a car stolen from my driveway, my car broken into and my neighbor was broken into and she was hurt (oh and i live in the 'good area' of waterbury, Bunker Hill). The police don't care either. When we reported the car stolen they said, well its probably in pieces now and wouldnt look for it so we had to go out and find it ourself, which we did. When the cops came to fill out the report they said they refused to take fingerprints (though the window had a dozen clear ones you didn't even need to dust) and never followed up on it since as the Read More

Cheap Place to Live? - 6/25/2008
Don't move here. Yes, Waterbury is a cheap place to live, but there is a reason for that. You can find tons of cheap appartments. But they may have an abandoned factory next door, been built on one of our many superfund toxic waste sites, drug dealers or crack house accross the street, polluted air from our rubber burning plant downtown, dirty water from lead pipes, or be owned by one of the many slum lords that participate in our crooked government Read More

Poor Schools - 6/25/2008
Waterbury, Ct. has a terrible school system that has been on a downward slide since the 1980's. Some of the high schools have come close to loosing their accredidation a couple of times. The middle schools are known as "the jungles", and a complete waste of 3 years. The grammer schools are trying hard but are overwhelmed with kids that are abused, neglected, living in poverty and have illiterate parents. 80% of adults living in Waterbury are illiterate, which helps explain the huge drug and crime Read More

Better then expected - 3/17/2007
Waterbury, CT is simply put, an old factory city. There is a deep past here with a large range of ethnic backgrounds. Waterbury was once called the Brass City or Brass Capital of the world! No longer even close to the truth. The city had some dark times crime wise in the 90's but has since come a long way. It actually has the lowest violent crime rate out of all the major CT cities (excluding Stamford). There actually is a lot to do here, not to mention that it is pretty much directly in between Boston and New york (be prepared to either be a Sox fan or a Yank!)One thing I must say that Waterbury is well known for is it's pizza! You will not find a better city for that and believe me, I have done my fare share of traveling. The school system is aweful, so if you want to live here w/ kids, plan on private school. Plenty of resturants, movie theaters a big mall and that kind of stuff. Some great golf courses too. The best thing about Waterbury is the real estate. Check out the homes you Read More
