Sperling Crime ratings for Camden, DE make no sens - 12/4/2010
The crime ratings for Camden, DE here on Sperling are obviously listed in error. Sperling lists the property crime for Camden, DE at "9", while their property crime rating for camden, NJ is only "7". Camden, NJ is the second most violent city in the entire nation, while Camden, DE is a sleepy, quiet, residential little town where there is virtually nothing to fear in terms of safety. Sperling is doing our community an extreme injustice with these ratings, and I expect this situation will be addressed Read More

Camden is a Great Community - 4/16/2008
I logged on to this site to see if I could find out more about Camden for a badge that my Girl Scout troop is working on. I was disappointed to see that there was only one review. It was from an individual that has only been here once and he was here by mistake. He had been pulled over for a traffic violation. Speeding is speeding. One mph or twenty over. People with values wouldn't steal a pack of gum any more than they would steal a television. So why are the traffice laws disreguarded in such a manner?

It was unfortunate that he had a bad experience because this is a great place to live. Our police officers are very particular about the speed limits. Perhaps the fact that we have large Amish and Menonite communities that regularly drive thru town in horse and buggies. Or maybe because we have a school on almost every major road thru town. This is a town where people still let their children walk to school. It is a safe place to live and we would like to keep Read More

Warning ---- Tourists- Relocators-Retirees --Be ca - 8/28/2007
While visiting my family in Dover, I decided to go to the local Walmart. This store is in Camden DE and is a very rural community. Upon leaving the store I got turned around and headed in the wrong direction. Not wanting to get lost, I made a u-turn at the end of the street that had a sign to turn right. Why they make you turn right nobody knows. There was nobody around when I made the u-turn or so I though, except Officer Houser who must have been hiding . About 1/4 mile down the road he pulls me over. Now this happened mid-afternoon. I'm an older fellow, drive a newer family sedan that had west coast plates, and he comes creeping up to the car and stands just forward of the rear door. The way he came up scared me, I figured I must be a suspect in a crime or something , he asks for driver's licence, etc and back to his car. It took him 15 min to get the ticket to me! He comes, explains the ticket, etc, thankyou officer and off I went. After a short while I looked in the rear view Read More
