Housing - 7/4/2007
We bought our house 2 years ago during "the rush" and watched as the apprasied value went up a full 15% in the next six months. Now, we've come all the way back down and people have sold next door to me for about 5% less than what we've bought. Things are not good now to sell - to buy, this seems like your market to cash in. Most people think it will level off and rise in the next 6 months again slowly - let's Read More

Insurance, Tax's and the $240.00 per sq foot make - 12/1/2006
I moved from Glastonbury CT in 1993 when I found the beatuful city of Boynton Beach. The town is very up-scale has youth football and softball teams, great parks new schools, it's clean, very pritty, young and alive with children. (could use a night club) Over the past 2 years however the tax's on our 1200 sq foot home went through the roof $3400.00 and our home owners insurance went from $1400.00 a year to $4900.00. With only a single insurance company that will cover homes in this zip code as POW and others went chapter 7 do to the storms. Homes are also very over priced at $240.00 a sq foot.

We have now listed our house for sale, however do to the amount of people now moving out, and the 6 homes listed on our short street, it could be a Read More

Love it here but will probably leave due to cost o - 8/31/2006
I moved to Boynton Beach and purchased a home in June 2004. My equity jumped $143,000 in 2 years. That's the good news. The bad news is property tax and insurance has skyrocketed as well. It is expensive to live here. The crime rate has also increased. Many people are moving away because of the high expense, the hurricanes, and crime. I'll probably sell my home and move as soon as the housing market makes an upward Read More

The cost of housing is going to the moon. - 9/20/2005
This use to be a nice quiet area with relatively affordable housing. I bought my villa/townhouse a year ago and it has appreciated in value over $100,000. That's great for me, but I feel for those coming into the market here. The median home is over $400,000 in this area.
